What does “Heedless” mean?

Who is heedless?
The heedless is the Muslim who thinks himself/herself on the right path and doing fine, while he is neglectful of his heart, his time, and his relation with Allah.
The repentance of the heedless is harder, because he does is in negligence and is not aware that he is in a great danger.
Therefore, the heedless never thinks of repentance and the devil will make sure not to get him/her in a clear sin, to avoid the feel of guilt and repenting.
They are, most of the time, doing great sins, but they are not aware of them (The sins of the hearts)
Most of us were raised in good environments that reject the bad things, because they are bad. However, not for the sake of Allah. Also, we pray, because we used to pray. Most of our lives for this live. We never think of our hearts or to progress with our relation with Allah. We think we do not do sins, because we just follow our parents and never thought of learning more.
{7} يَعْلَمُونَ ظَاهِرًا مِنَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ عَنِ الْآخِرَةِ هُمْ غَافِلُونَ
They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless. [30:6]

اقترب للناس حسابهم و هم في غفلة معرضون
“The Reckoning is ever drawing closer to Mankind, yet they are woefully heedless of it, turning away.”
ماياتيهم من ذكر من ربهم محدث الا استمعوه وهم يلعبون
Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord, but they listen to it while they play,
لاهية قلوبهم
Their hearts are heedless and distracted

و جاءت سكرة الموت بالحق — ذلك ما كنت منه تحيد
و نفخ في الصور — ذلك يوم الوعيد
و جاءت كل نفس معها سائق و شهيد
لقد كنت في غفلة من هذا فكشفنا عنك غطائك فبصرك اليوم حديد
“And the agony of death will descend upon you in truth — for it is that which you seek to evade!
And the Trumpet has been sounded — that is the Promised Day!
And every soul will attend — with it shall be a driver and a witness,
For surely you have been unmindful in this — therefore we have removed your blindfold — your vision today will be most keen!” [Q: 50:19–22]

{103} قُلْ هَلْ نُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِالْأَخْسَرِينَ أَعْمَالًا
{104} الَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعْيُهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يُحْسِنُونَ صُنْعًا
(18:103) Say, (O Muhammad): “Shall We tell you who will be the greatest losers in respect of their works? (18:104) It will be those whose effort went astray in the life of the world and who believe nevertheless that they are doing good. (18:105)

{7} إِنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَاءَنَا وَرَضُوا بِالْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاطْمَأَنُّوا بِهَا وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا غَافِلُونَ
Those who rest not their hope on their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the Present, and those who heed not Our Signs,
{8} أُولَئِكَ مَأْوَاهُمُ النَّارُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
Their abode is the Fire, because of the (evil) they earned.

{179} وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ آذَانٌ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا أُولَئِكَ كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ
Many are the Jinns and men We have made for Hell: they have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle, nay more misguided: for they are heedless.

يُجاءُ بالمَوتِ يومَ القيامةِ كأنَّهُ كبشٌ أملَحُ (وزادَ أبو كُرَيبٍ ) فيوقَفُ بينَ الجنَّةِ والنَّارِ ( واتَّفقا في باقي الحديثِ ) فيُقالُ : يا أَهلَ الجنَّةِ ! هل تعرِفونَ هذا ؟ فيَشرَئبُّونَ وينظُرونَ ويقولونَ : نعم . هذا المَوتُ . قال ويُقالُ : يا أهلَ النَّارِ ! هل تعرِفونَ هذا ؟ قال فيَشرَئبُّونَ وينظُرونَ ويقولونَ : نعم . هذا المَوتُ . قال فيؤمَرُ بهِ فيُذبَحُ . قال ثمَّ يُقالُ : يا أهلَ الجنَّةِ ! خلودٌ فلا مَوتَ . ويا أهلَ النَّارِ ! خلودٌ فلا مَوتَ . قال ثمَّ قرأ رسولُ اللَّهِ صلَّى اللَّهُ عليهِ وسلَّمَ : { وَأَنْذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِيَ الْأَمْرُ وَهُمْ فِي غَفْلَةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ } [ 19 / مريم / 39 ] وأشارَ بيدِهِ إلى الدُّنيا .

خلاصة حكم المحدث: صحيح
Death would be brought on the Day of Resurrection. in the form of a white-coloured ram. Abu Kuraib made this addition: Then it would be made to stand between the Paradise and the Hell. So far as the rest of the hadith is concerned there is perfect agreement (between the two narrators) and it would be said to the inmates of Paradise: Do you recognise this? They would raise up their necks and look towards it and say: Yes, ‘ it is death. Then it would be said to the inmates of Hell-Fire.. Do you recognize this? And they would raise up their necks and look and say: Yes, it is death. Then the command would be given for slaughtering that, and then it would be said: 0 inmates of Paradise,, there is an everlasting life for you and no death. And then (addressing) to the inmates of the Hell-Fire, it would be said: 0 inmates of Hell-Fire, there is an everlasting living for you and no death. Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) then recited this verse pointing with his hand to this (material) world:” Warn them, this Day of dismay, and when their affairs would be decided, and they would be un- mindful and they believe not” (xix. 39).
